During his first week in office President Barrack Obama declared America was no longer a Christian nation. During his 2011 Thanksgiving address to the American people he reflected “how truly lucky we truly are.” Instead of offering thanksgiving to the provision and guidance of the Lord God Almighty, President Obama declared the true meaning of Thanksgiving as “Americans drew strength from each other.”
Recently the White House held a two-week early celebration of the Jewish Festival of Lights to “cement America’s support and commitment to the security of Israel.” However, did the President actually use this occasion to once again desecrate a religious observance?
Hanukkah was established to commemorate the great military and spiritual victories of the Jewish Maccabees against Antiochus IV’s attempts to assimilate Jewish beliefs into a one world culture. Following the death of Alexander the Great, Antiochus IV assumed one of two thrones of a divided kingdom. Antiochus, choosing to perpetuate Alexander’s one-world, one-culture philosophy, targeted the Jews for “change.” Jewish people were forced to make a choice to assimilate to Greek philosophies or face death. To break down their resolve, Antiochus desecrated and defiled the Jewish temple, then tortured and murdered thousands who kept their Jewish faith.
Despite great odds, the Maccabee family and their followers defeated Antiochus and his forces and re-established the Jewish culture. The temple was restored, cleansed, and opened for worship.
During the eight-day Hanukkah celebration, one candle on the nine-candle menorah is lit per day to memorialize the miraculous multiplying of the one-day supply of concentrated oil needed to light the eternal flame in the temple. It is lit by the ninth candle, the shammach, which symbolizes the Messiah.
Obama stated Hanukkah was about “right over might, faith over doubt.” Indeed, it was a great victory for the Jewish people to again worship according to their beliefs. Ironically, the statement came from a leader who has blatantly attempted to assimilate all faith, including the Jewish faith, to adhere to secular philosophies. Today, those standing against “politically correct” rules and regulations now face threats, strict penalties, and even incarceration. As a result many have succumbed to the secularization of America.
Alexander the Great believed a country with a common language, religion, culture, and ideas would be united. The Founding Fathers also wisely believed a united America built on Judeo-Christian principles would achieve greatness. Nevertheless, the Obama administration has systematically attempted to tear down the very foundations that built this nation. By deliberately irreverently observing Hanukkah two weeks in advance and lighting all the candles of the menorah at one time, President Obama, like Antiochus, symbolically desecrated a sacred religious commemoration to promote his agenda.
Secularization is attempting to assimilate America into a one-world culture. Modern day Maccabees are needed to fight against the status quo to once against restore America to its spiritual and Constitutional roots. Failure to do so will result in the demise of the greatest nation the world has ever seen.
