Could anything be more predictable than the euphoria with which the national media reported the death of Osama bin Laden?
After all, their guy–the fellow America-hater whose election journalists secured with years of dutiful worship and diligent concealment–succeeded where George Bush had failed.
The war on terror was now officially over, won by the first black President.
And how are we told the Wunderkind of the Oval Office performed this extraordinary feat? “It began with a tip to the CIA eight months ago about a possible Osama bin Laden hiding place, and led Sunday to the bold military operation that will go down in U.S. history…”, squeals ABC News with notable adoration of The One.
“…The real breakthrough came when they [the Obama administration] finally figured out the name and location of bin Laden’s most trusted courier…” says the NY Times.
Of course there is a slight disparity between the media fable of Obama’s daring do and the real story of what has taken place over the past decade.
In March of 2003, American Security and Pakistani agents captured Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Before being moved to the Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp, the reputed mastermind of the 9/11 attacks was water boarded and revealed the “nickname” of one of Osama bin Laden’s most trusted aides. “The CIA got similar information from Mohammed’s successor, Abu Faraj al-Libi.” “Both were subjected to harsh interrogation tactics inside CIA prisons in Poland and Romania.” In 2007 the real name of that bin Laden aide was determined and the hunt for Osama’s hiding place could begin in earnest, given the true identity of a real target.
Four years ago, candidate Barack Hussein Obama stated “the secret authorization of brutal interrogations is an outrageous betrayal of our core values and a grave danger to our security.” “Torture is how you create enemies, not how you defeat them. Torture is how you get bad information, not good intelligence.” So, deeply disturbed by overly aggressive tactics employed against simple MASS MURDERERS, Obama vowed that as President, there would be no more “…secret authorization of methods like simulated drowning.”
AP reporter Adam Goldman has decided that the death of bin Laden “…is sure to reignite the debate over whether the now-closed interrogation and detention program was successful.” Successful?? Osama bin Laden is now dead, thanks to the “enhanced interrogation techniques” leftists like Obama so disingenuously described as “torture.” Were it not for the guts and determination of George Bush, bin Laden would still be enjoying life in his million dollar Pakistan retreat. And Obama’s only regret would be the lost week of media adulation.
