“Certified Copy of Registration of Birth, # 8732, No. 47,044, District of Mombasa”:Barack Obama

This is a brief review of the evidence pointing to Barack Obama’s Kenyan birth.

Barack Obama was born in Africa according to an exclusive investigation by GLOBE Magazine which ran an image of what they are saying is the “Certified Copy of Registration of Birth, # 8732, No. 47,044, District of Mombasa” in their August 2, 2010 cover story. Calling the image of the long form birth certificate “shocking proof,” the GLOBE dossier says “the tell-tale African certificate shows the 48-year-old Barack Obama’s birth REALLY took place in Mombasa, Kenya’s Coast Province General Hospital at 7:24p.m. on August. 4, 1961.

GLOBE reporters quote Obama’s grandmother Sarah as saying “she was in the Mombasa hospital delivery room when the future Leader of the Free World was born.” Earlier GLOBE carried the story of Timothy Adams, a former high level Honolulu elections clerk, who described searching long and hard for Obama’s long-form birth certificate, but never finding one.

 Eligibility to hold the United States’ highest office centers on the 14th Amendment’s requirements that such a candidate must be born on US soil to two US citizens. A new video making cyberspace rounds, delves deeply into the quandary presented by Obama’s father being a citizen of the United Kingdom. At least 17 lawsuits challenging Obama’s eligibility to date have not advanced to higher court adjudication.

WorldNetDaily.com early on started the eligibility billboard campaign, and just this past week, CNN’s new poll of 335 Democrats and 285 Republicans found “6 of 10 people are uncertain the president was even born in the United States.”

Problematic document

Former presidential candidate Alan Keyes called into question the Certificate of Live Birth (COLB) document Obama did release. Keyes feels the border design is different from “others printed during the same time period.” A COLB is NOT the same as the long form which shows the hospital and attending doctor and carries official governmental seals.

 World Net Daily’s runaway best seller THE MANCHURIAN PRESIDENT which devotes an entire chapter to the eligibility question states that the problem is with the parents’ birth locations. Calling their image of Obama’s alleged long form birth certificate a “smoking gun,” GLOBE researchers quote Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle as “flatly stat[ing] that Obama was born at Honolulu’s Kapi’olani hospital.” Nevertheless, the GLOBE picture of this Kenyan document was signed by “deputy registrar of Coast Province. Joshua Simon Oduya, and issued as a certified copy of the original on Feb. 17, 1964.” Oduya affixed his signature to the statement of “I. . .hereby certify that the above is a true copy of the entry recorded in the Birth Register of this Province, Book 44B,Page 5733, Given under my Hand and Seal of Office this 17th day of February, 1964.”

This day in history August 15

1914 : The Panama Canal, connecting the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, was officially opened, the original construction began in 1880 by French Engineers but after 20,000 workers died of malaria, yellow fever and other diseases during construction the French gave up and American money and engineers completed the project. The canal is 48 miles long and has three major locks and Tolls are decided by the Panama Canal Authority based on vessel type, size, and cargo. The tolls still provide a significant saving on fuel and time for ships to go the long route round Cape Horn at the southernmost tip of South America.
