“If this were just our candidates versus their candidates, I would sign an affidavit that we would pick up 35 seats” so says Congressman Steve Israel the Democrat in charge of getting the House back. This false bravado sums up a big part of the Democrats’ problem: not being able to acknowledge there is a problem.
A hand wringing New York Times analysis lays out the grim situation for its Party, “The overall dynamic favors Republicans, who look poised to maintain their hold on the House. More Democrats than Republicans have retired in districts where they were endangered, and more Republicans benefited from the decennial redistricting, leaving the Democrats with too small a cushion of Teflon incumbents as they try to regain a majority in the House. Of the 80 races viewed as most competitive by The New York Times, based on polls and interviews with independent analysts, 32 are leaning Republican, 23 are leaning Democratic and 25 are tossups.”
The reality is that these numbers indicate the GOP is poised to win over 50 of these race and maybe more. Because of the cumulative effect of both elections this would be worse than 2010 for the Democrats who could see their numbers fall to the fewest since 1931.
Why this will happen
With less than four months to go compared to 2008 conservative Republican enthusiasm is 16 points higher and liberal Democrat enthusiasm is 22 points lower.
Democrats from local candidates to Barack Obama have no coherent plausible message.
Together they have made America sick so what can they say?
They can’t even keep their “We hate” list straight. They’ve tried to get their base to hate Bain Capital, but couldn’t make their charges stick because they are lies. They’re still trying to get their base to hate the TEA party but every charge they make is a lie so it falls flat. Now they are telling their Christian base to hate Christian doctrine and love Democrats which is also doomed to failure.
There is no group Obama lost in 2008 that he is winning now and no group (not even African Americans) he won in 2008 that he is doing better with today. Now that voters have a clearer idea of what he is all about, Barack Obama will be an even bigger drag on his Party this year than he was in 2010 when the GOP took 63 seats in a landslide not seen since 1938.
Americans are NOT going to the polls to vote against Barack Obama then vote for a Democrat in their Congressional district as Mister Israel fantasizes. Come November Democrat policies will sink them in large numbers.

This is somewhat off subject, but as I am an occasional visitor to your site and generally agree with what you have to say I am perplexed by your continuing bias against White Southerners. I have long been offended by your hostility to us and your need to appease our African American adversaries who will never vote Republican no matter how many times you remind them that the Democrats of yore supported slavery. African American’s do not value either liberty or private property, they seek only to recreate the glory days when they had a “Massa” and not a care in the world. I am a Virginian whose family has lived in this land since Jamestown and I have been surrounded by African American’s all my life and know whereof I speak. I am proud that eight of my ancestors served in the Army of Northern Virginia and I feel not a single pang of guilt that they owned a great many slaves. I,like many of my people, regard Abraham Lincoln as the original power hungry, big government, tyrant. Please sir, enlighten me as to how the Conservative cause is helped by alienating your natural allies in order to pursue those who will NEVER EVER NEVER vote for a Conservative. You can either have Southern blacks or Southern whites but you cannot have both as we are two separate peoples who more or less despise one another. Republican’s would do a good deal better pursuing Latinos ( and lest you think I am a complete racist I will state that I am married to one) who are at least willing to listen and are persuadable. I attended integrated schools during school busing in Richmond and I dealt with black stupidity and violence on a daily basis. At Huguenot High School babies were born in the Girl’s restroom and marijuana was smoked openly in the hallways. The few African American’s who were decent lived in constant fear for their lives at the hands of the subhuman thugs who terrified us all- but as one young fellow pointed out to me- at least I didn’t have to ride home to the same neighborhood with the knuckle dragging cretins. It was my experience during this time that turned my parents and I away from the party of our ancestors as it was the only possible defense against a Democrat party that had been hijacked by Northern communist ethnics and their African American lackeys. We did not become Republican’s because we loved the Federal flag and Abraham Lincoln. We became Republican’s because the Democrats are the party of the black man and we are not black nor do we share the communist values subscribed to by 92-95% of African American’s . In short, we had no choice, although I and more than a few of my friends and acquaintances just might vote for Mr. Virgil Goode if the Republican’s continue to take us for granted and persist in shoving the malignant chimpanzee of Illinois (I mean Lincoln not Obama-isn’t it interesting that they both hail from Illinois) down our throats
Sir, nothing that I write is ever designed to offend today’s Republican South. My point is always that Democrats are an evil lot that have always been an enemy to all minorities and especially so African Americans. My purpose is to highlight the hypocrisy of the Democrat Party. Nevertheless, I assume you are referencing my continued hammering at the hypocritical history of the Democrat Party in the “This day in history” feature at the end of each essay. I never miss a chance to expose the Democrats as the frauds they are, but that should mean nothing to you as a modern day Southerner.

It is interesting, Coach, you did not in your reply to Mr. Abbott even mention his shocking and bluntly stated racism. I am as conservative as anyone you might hope to find, but I do not think “knuckle-dragging cretins,” “chimpanzee,” etc. have any place — at least not any good place — in our national discourse in the 21st Century. As a matter of fact this attitude on the part of Mr. Abbott aligns more closely with the attitude of the Democrat Party you describe in your book than with modern conservatism.
His own words told the story. He is NOT a conservative. He is a sick bigot who is intending to vote to help Obama be reelected. What could I have added to his self indictment?

When expressing plurals in print (yours, i.e. “Republican’s continue to take us for granted”) the form should be “Republicans” which is a plural, NOT “Republican’s” which is a possessive.
