Have we no patriots in DC? Are all of our Representatives cowards?

By Ron Reale, staff writer

I do not understand the mindset of a United States Congressman or Senator, of either Party, who would so publicly and readily not only abdicate their responsibility to follow the Constitution, but sit back and without a fight or so much as a show of false indignation, allow another branch of Government to usurp their powers and render them meaningless.

Out of 535 so-called representatives, the people that are supposed to hold up our founding documents to protect the citizenry they represent, not one of them had the stones, was enough of a Patriot, to stand up and proclaim that, “not having received any decision from the Supreme Court on the law the Congress sent them, no action would be taken on the bill until the next Court session, when the court will have a chance to further deliberate on the Bill, possibly rendering a decision. In the meantime, if any Representatives in the House wishes to take up the theoretical posturing of Chief Justice John Roberts, and actually pass a Health-care bill funded by new taxes, I’m sure it will be given the attention it deserves. Happy Fourth of July and God Bless America.”

I’ve been railing about judicial activism for years.

The last time I put it in writing was in 2008.

Basic Constitution. Legislators Legislate. Judges Judge.

If the Speaker of the House or the Senate Majority Leader of Congress were to decide that Jerry Sandusky was innocent, because he wasn’t having sex, he was teaching Sex-ed, could they force their opinion on any Court? Would he be let free?

Conversely, we should not be enslaved by the deranged hallucinogenic meanderings of a wanna beloved politician, a judicial activist rewriting legislation to correct it’s inherent deficiencies, who is more worried about his legacy than the Constitution he swore to protect.

I don’t have to obey someone publicly and obviously impersonating a Police officer. He is committing a crime and should be punished.

America should not obey someone publicly and obviously impersonating a member of Congress or a Supreme Court Justice. He is committing a crime and should be impeached.

    * He is committing a crime and should be impeached.*

There are, of course, procedures for impeaching AND convicting (it's a 2-step process; simple impeachment gets you nowhere) Supreme Court justices. BUT the alleged wrongdoings must be high crimes and misdemeanors.

What high crime or misdemeanor do you believe Roberts committed?

    • Impersonating a member of the legislature is a felony. No judge has the right to change any comma or period in a law, and even making suggestions is overstepping their authority.

They are all cowards, with the exception of a very, very few. They FEAR losing their seat and therefore their source of wealth. They will play their political game as long as we allow them. We must support new faces in Congress and the best are those vetted and chosen by the Tea Party.
I have lost all respect for the Executive Branch, the Legislative Branch; and, after Justice Roberts' decision to throw 320,000,000 people under the Obama bus, I have no more confidence or respect for the Judicial Branch.
This Country needs a complete overhaul!
The USA was never meant to be a Socialist Nation. It was founded to be FREE!

Ron, I can see only one problem with your premise : members of Congress are not obliged to protect the citizens of this country….that responsibility was to be the functions of the States.
Through the years, however, The States, as they accepted more and more funding from the Feds, and became dependent upon that "largesse", they became more averse to exercising their rightful sovereignty.
The States allowed the practice of "nullification" to fall by the wayside; and with it…they abandoned their responsibilities to interpose themselves between over-reaching federalism and their citizens…..thereby diminishing not only the sovereign status of the individual states themselves, but also abasing and diminishing their citizens sovereign rights as well.
Additionally, our basic human rights originate from Our Creator, not from government in ANY form….The States were supposed to protect their residents' God-given rights and they failed to do so.
They have replaced God's laws with their own.
They ( the States), created this Frankenstein federal government via a pact between the states…and then they proceeded to abandon themselves, and US, to its' tyranny.
The movement back toward exercising the States' constitutional rights to nullify the actions of the federal government is still nascent. but it is growing…and it is crucial to regaining control over the federal government.
There must also be put in place a system within each state by which the states and its' residents can more easily "call to account' , chasten, caution, and censure each congressional Representative and Senator when their votes do NOT reflect the will of the people who elected them, and the States they represent .
Short of recalling these errant and arrogant legislators… there must be adopted a mechanism by which a public "vote of no confidence" can be undertaken to rein them back away from their club-like, coddling, surroundings on Mount Olympus and to"remind them" that they do NOT have the right to continually " vote their consciences, coalitions, and partisan blocs, " when vast populations of their constituencies are calling for their congressional heads to be chopped off !!
As it is now, almost every single congressperson we send to D.C has become a "Federalist"….their actions have become antithetical to the interests of State sovereignty and individual sovereignty and therefore "anti-freedom".
Ron, I agree with you that we can probably count on ONE HAND the number of freedom-loving Patriots in Congress…and THAT, my friend, is a damn, criminal shame.

      New Laws Delayed Implementation

In order to keep this, and future Governments, from abusing the citizenry in the manner we have just witnessed with the Health Care Debacle, I make this suggestion.
Any law that is passed may not go into effect for one full election cycle, (Congressional, then Presidential). Not one dime may be spent, office rented or “board coordinated”.
If it is a good law, well fine, it will go into effect as scheduled.
If it is a rotten piece of corruption, like the Health Care Debacle is, or the amnesty bill will be, this delay would keep the corrupt people who voted for it from benefiting immediately, and allow the citizens to use their votes to correct the law and punish the bought-and-paid for Congress and president, (little p for current occupant) responsible.
If the Representatives were actually working in that capacity, and truely representing the wishes of the people, they would be rewarded with re-election, and the bill would be implemented.
Emergency bills, would undergo fast tracking, with strict oversight and transparency.
As it stands now, and has gone into overdrive since Barack Hussein Chavez the socialist was elected, so-called representatives who dismiss the wishes of their constituancy can inflict major damage to our country before we have a chance to throw them out and repeal the bill.
Even repealing the bill might not dismantle boards and regulations already created.
Amnesty, for example, could not be used as a political tool this year, to keep the democrats in power. The new citizens would have at least 4 years before they could vote, and I doubt anyone that tried to push it would be around after the full election cycle.
      REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER!!!

      Be well,
      Ron
