Obama’s recession is crushing his 2008 “oh-so-much-more-enlightened- than- us” “youth voters”

By Kevin “Coach” Collins

In the lead up to the 2008 Presidential election college campuses fairly crackled with excitement and anticipation. The oh-so-much-more enlightened “Youth vote” was ready to explode and “show” the older generations who was the smartest most compassionate and most politically correct generation in American history. They intended to elect America’s first Black president, and they did.

Now two years later those 18 to 24 year olds look like the dumbest group of people ever to walk into a polling place. The most recent USA TODAY analysis of the employment picture reveals the startling fact that, as a group, those aged 16 to 24 are suffering the highest level of unemployment since the government started keeping track back in 1948.

Making the point that falling for Obama’s socialism was a huge mistake, the level of unemployment for this group has grown from 34% in 2000 to 45% today.

Hurt their parents and grandparents

As bad as Obama’s recession has been on our “enlightened youth” it has hit harder at the opposite end of the age scale. People who should be retiring are staying in their jobs into their 70s. Among workers between 60 and 64, 55% are working as compared to only 47% who were employed in 2000.

Older Americans are not able to retire because the uncertainties attending Obama’s economy make taking such a life changing step too risky. Moreover, when the stability and experience of an older workforce are stacked up against the reduced costs but generally reduced productivity of younger workers, the savings don’t look so inviting to employers.

Since the first of 77 million Baby Boomers will be reaching the normal retirement age of 65 this coming year, this situation is actually easing the burden on the Social Security Administration.
Less taxing jobs and better health care should fill our “golden years” with relaxation and playing with grandchildren. Nevertheless, because of the stupidity of the 18 to 24 year old fools who voted for Obama’s something- for- nothing- scheme many of those who have fed them, clothed them, housed them, sent them to school and nurtured them will have to watch their best years dwindle away.

Now many of these geniuses who live in deep blue states can only pray for snow so they can earn a few dollars shoveling it for those who do have a job.

Be careful of what you pray for; you might just get it.

put the voting age back to 21 or higher because the youth are irresponsible and voting for sob, usob is absolute proof of incoherency. If you really think that sending 18 years olds off to war is a reason to vote then allow only the ones who go to war vote. Parents and grandparents stop giving them money and sending them off to college because rebellion is all you get.

I'll wager there were just as many 30-50-something "compassionate" female dopes who pulled the lever for the fool as well. I am ashamed to say that many of my gender do not have what it takes to vote responsibly.

You are right Jo, I know many people in that age bracket that voted for this POS!

"Now two years later those 18 to 24 year olds look like the dumbest group of people ever to walk into a polling place." Look like? they are! Brainwashed by commies, druggies and atheists.

The voting age must be increased back to 21. But then there is no sign that their stupidity will have lessened. A return to the draft with a four year commitment maybe. These educated morons walking among us are a danger to our country and each of us. A close examination of the educational system displays a socialist indoctrination that has been in place since before the 60’s. Our entire core of teachers are morally corrupt. I don’t think there is much hope for this generation other than to encourage heavy drug use to the point where they overdose themselves into the history books as the “Darwin Award “ generation for having thrown our country into the hands of socialists’ and communists. They are truly ignorant of what they have done. May God help these mindless morons and take them to him.

You are all correct except the voting age should be raised to 35 or 40.
