Democrats know their supporters are generally not very smart. They know that to get their base to remember and understand a point they have to reduce it to a “four legs: good, two legs: bad” mantra. In recent years they have been very successful with this “reduce it to a bumper sticker” approach. By using Pavlovian conditioning they have trained their followers to foam at the mouth at the words “Gingrich” “DeLay” and “Halliburton.” Now they are trying to train their base to throw things at their TV sets when they hear the words “Bain Capital.”
So far they have had no success and at this rate they’re not likely to achieve their goal. The problem Team Obama has is clear: not even Democrats believe they should hate Bain Capital because Barack Obama says they must.
On Sunday the “Bain Capital is the enemy” scheme took a big hit when Newark mayor and African American Democrat Corey Booker said “I’m not about to sit here and indict private equity” which was a defense of what Bain Capital does.
This came on top of a childishly under verified video of two steel workers (one a Hispanic of course) complaining that the evil Bain Capital had closed the plant they worked at. Simple fact checking revealed this was true but happened two years after Mitt Romney the “evil face of the evil Bain Capital” left the venture capital firm.
Worse still was the embarrassing video Booker was forced to make on Monday. It looked like a “hostage” video and his reassurances that he wanted Obama reelected didn’t seem spontaneous. In response to Obama’s asinine charges against Bain many prominent Democrats have stepped forward with support for Booker and if not support for Romney at least support for the concept of venture capitalism.
Among those who have joined the ranks of Democrats not willing to be on record as attacking capitalism, even if that means indirectly supporting Romney, are Ed Rendell a former Democrat National Committee Chairman, Harold Ford a Black former Congressman, and former Obama economic adviser Steve Rattner.
When asked to react to Booker’s Sunday comment David Axelrod snidely remarked, “I love Cory Booker. He’s a great mayor. If my house was on fire, I’d hope he was my next door neighbor.”
For the record: the Obama campaign says Booker was not forced to make the “hostage” video; Booker says he was and Mister Axelrod, your house certainly IS on fire.

This day in history May 23,
1993: After the April 19 Oklahoma City Bombing; the shell of the Alfred P. Murrah federal building where168 people including 19 children were killed was demolished. Current Democrat Attorney General Eric Holder was involved in a cover up of the government’s part in the bombing. Don’t believe it? Look it up. What have you done today to deserve to live in America? This is a very loaded question. Depending upon which times periods you have passed through, you will get a different. Going way back for me, it reminds me of the Bolshevik Russia, or during WWII, or even JF Kennedy…"Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country." All of these are guilt trips to gain control over the people. Being born here in America, it is my right to live here. I will always "deserve" to live here because of that right. Now, I believe you are actually asking if I am a good American by supporting the good to enrich America and fight the tyranny within. Perhaps and perhaps not…again the conclusion will depend upon the questioner's world view. (I actually hate that term "world view" but it fits for this purpose.) This little itch has been scratched. I would like to say that I thoroughly enjoy your website, thanks!
Dear “Why”
Your comment makes it clear that my question caused you to think a bit this morning. Getting readers to think about our national situation is our goal at CiR.
Thanks for writing and thanks for reading CiR,

Love your post here why!! I was a kid of about six, or senen at the time that JFK said what he did. This piece of human waste makes me sick to even see a President on TV. He is so "SELF CENTERED", and narcissist. It isx time for a change that we can truly "BELIEVE" in, and time to get rid of the fact that JOBS will never return to America. Like some of the idiots in his administration have said. All they offer is negativity, and that would be a great way for Mitt Romney to get over with even Dems. think positive. We most surely need a change that we can believe in, and that is not this one we already tried again. GOD PLEASE HELP THIS COUNTRY AGAIN.
Didn't Obama just hold a $35,800/plate fund raiser with another venture capital group – Blackthorn ???
Bain's steel company of note was kept open for 8 years past it's logical period of life support. How many men and women kept their jobs while Bain strived mightily to restore the American steel industry?
