Republicans: Show some spine and act like the conservative you told us you are

By Basil Irwin, staff writer

Please don’t go along to get along on this. What’s the point of electing Republicans if they’re just going to do the same thing as the Democrats? None actually; Which is why the Republican Party is doomed if it doesn’t show some spine. Vote wrong and true conservatives are going to split off in disgust to form a 3rd party.

Sure the Democrats will win in droves at that point, but what difference would that really make anyway with “leaders” like Boehner and McConnell and other spineless Republicans that vote for the same deliberately destructive financial policies as the Democrats?

Ya’ll can keep kicking this can down the road for 2-3 more years, but it’s all going to collapse then anyway, just like the PIIGS are on the verge of collapse now. So, at least be one of the ones that can say “I told you so” and “I voted against this”. On a more personal note, having nearly worked myself to death all my life and now living mostly on savings, voting to continue to borrow trillions each year from the Federal Reserve will destroy my savings via the inevitable destruction of the value of the U.S. dollar, leaving me destitute.

(BTW, this inflation will be the most effective form of redistribution yet by the Obammunists, destroying the savings of millions like myself who worked and saved all our lives as a consequence of borrowing trillions to be handed out like candies tossed from parade cars into crowds of bystanders.) I’m sure you and the other Republicans saw Obama’s speech on July 11 where he all but quoted Marx’s “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need” when he said: “I will not accept a deal in which … I am able to keep hundreds of thousands of dollars in additional income that I don’t need, while, uh, a parent out there who is struggling to figure out how to send their kid to college suddenly finds, uh, that they’ve got a couple thousand dollars less in grants or student loans. That’s what the revenue debate is about.” -Barrack Obama, July 11, 2011

So, Obama himself says the revenue debate is really all about the Marxist principle of “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need”.

If the Republicans cave in to Obama on the debt ceiling, then we all know that they have just acquiesced to Marxism.
Ever since the Republicans won the House, they kept saying, well, we’re voting to compromise now, but just wait when the big fight comes down the road, we’ll stand up then. Well, you know what?

The Republicans have not stood up once, not once, since they won the House. And quite frankly, I don’t expect them to.

The House Republicans have not changed one cent’s worth of Obama’s spending or his programs. They have not changed one single policy issue. Not one. And it isn’t because they couldn’t have. They easily could have dug in their heels at any number of points and forced a standoff. But they haven’t. And they haven’t simply because they don’t have the guts for a real fight.

This is most unfortunate because the Progressives/Marxists sure have had the guts to force all of their destructive policies and spending down our throats. And none of that will get changed unless the Republicans (or a new Conservative party) have MORE guts than the Progressives have!

BTW, if you’ve never read it, I highly recommend you read “Witness” by Whittaker Chambers. I think you’ll understand the immense toughness of the Marxists and the level of toughness it will take to defeat them.

This day in history July 18
1969: After a party on Cappaquiddick Island Democrat Senator Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts drove his car off a bridge and Mary Ko Kopechne, a woman he was trying to seduce, was left behind by Kennedy as the car filled with water. Ms. Kopechne was found dead nine hours later after Kennedy had concocted a story the local Democrats would go along with. Kennedy was never charged with any crime in Kopechne’s death, but he was regularly rewarded for his clever escape from responsibility by the rank and file Democrats of Massachusetts who always cared more about advancing socialism than the death of Mary Jo Kopechne.

  • Amen!!! Contact elected officials now; call local & national radio stations to say no debt ceiling increase. We need to balance the national check book. McConnel & Boehner need to be threatened with a third party.

http://www.Reason.com has a very good article, actually several, on the guile of this whole congressional debt ceiling/ budget debate meant to occupy our time with more governmental tripe and obfuscation.
Entitled: "3 Reasons Why the Debt-Ceiling Debate is full of Malarkey" by Nick Gillespie & Meredith Bragg (July 15 '11). You really should read this to learn how very much this whole issue is, well, a non-issue being used by both sides.
The three main reasons they give are these:
    A). August 2 is a phony deadline
B). Reaching the Debt-ceiling is NOT the same as defaulting on our debt.
C). Legislating-by-Panic is no way to run a country.
There are also, at the bottom page of the article, two more links, which will take you like-minded articles.
!). "5 Uncomfortable Facts About the Wonderful, Horrible Debt-Limit Debate"
2). "The Debt Ceiling: What is at Stake" This is a link to The Mercatus Center at George Mason University.
The voices of reason, should be our voices as well.
Call your legislators NOW to demand the "Cut, Cap, and Balance Act" be passed.
No need to negotiate with the anointed one at all.

I realize that this post is off-topic from the thrust of the above article, but it IS still illustrative of the blatant chicanery afoot during the past two administrations; and it's all about light-bulbs! Yeah, you heard me, light-bulbs!
I was listening to a weekend run of the Mark Levin program about 2 weeks ago to listen how he was waxing eloquent, as usual, about the stupid, anti-common sense, Bush and Obama Administrations mandates that we all get rid of all those wonderful light-bulbs which have served us so well for many generations.
First off, I was unaware that the Bush Admin. was the one responsible for initiating this bit of crap, (like I needed just one more reason to loathe his domestic policies! ).But, thank you for informing me anyway Mr. Levine!
    Question to all Americans:
Why should we be forced to buy Mercury light-bulbs under the false assumption that they are more "ecologically friendly" and energy efficient when neither claim is true?
We already have light-bulbs currently in use which have reduced the wattage of every household using them for the past ten years or so.
In addition, those light-bulbs do NOT contain Mercury!
Just drop one of those new, costlier, green-approved puppies on the floor and call in the Hazmat team to deal with the known dangers of Mercury.
By rights, we ought never dispose of them in our trash either (as we do our present light-bulbs), because of the TOXIC effect of Mercury upon our pets, land-fills, humans, water supplies, wild critters and the balance of our environment.
Why isn't the "Green Industry" all over these dangers to Mother Earth, man and beast, "like a bad case of hives" ?
They certainly haven't withdrawn their carping and cries of "FOUL" against the mining industries' use of Mercury to separate valuable products from ores !
Like a bunch of two-faced Gods they presume to mandate the actions of others while promulgating something equally disastrous! At least the mining industry has strict standards of disposal and water quality; while the "un-educated and un-fore-warned" household using mercury bulbs WILL use their familiar methods of light-bulb disposal, the trash.
So, the current totalitarians and the "greenies" care more about the ecology and environment than "Harry and Mary Homeowner"?
    Horse Pucky and Moose Merde!
The point is: why should we have to handle more toxic products in our homes that won't even work, or worse yet, may burst open once fitted into a receptacle and the switch turned on, if we touch them. The oils on our fingers can and will interfere with the working of a mercury bulb.
This is only one example of the asinine, ill-informed, green-PAC initiated, governmental over-reaches that need to be, as Deputy, Barney Fife would say, " nipped-in-the-bud".

Basil. You have written a very good article which lends so much weight to the old expression, "Ain't a Dime's bit of difference between Democrats and Republicans"….and I want to thank you for both your effort ,and for the tone of the content
I only hope that my two posts above haven't impeded others from making comment on this article; for it is worthy of support and comment.
I didn't intend to co-opt your article with the second posting. It is only that so often I find myself wanting to share some news, to direct folks to other sources for breaking news, or to offer an opinion not fully germane to the topics being addresses, but there is no particular site here at CIR where we can just unload our miscellaneous thoughts and ideas. Perhaps we could ask "Coach" if it is possible to begin our own "Dump Site" !
I apologize to you if I have caused you grief, my friend.
You are so correct when you say, "The House Republicans have not changed one cent's worth of Obama's spending or his programs." Additionally, you offered (and I paraphrase here ), that the reason Repubes in Congress haven't dug in their heels to fight the Anti-American President is that they lack the guts for a real fight.
I Couldn't agree with you more! A show of "guts", chutzpah, and nerve would be antithetical to the herd mentality nurtured in both House and Senate to "maintain order ". Maintain the Status Quo, rather.
Keeping the power and the Shekels at their disposal at all times.
One would think that Obama's tendency to usurp power from most all branches of government would particularly annoy the Senate; but it hasn't. Why?
My take is that there are too many like-minded Obamatons embedded both there and in the House who would love to see this country turned into a full-out, un-adulterated, unchallenged, Progressive Oligarchy. Their goals dovetail nicely with Obama's. So why mix-in with actions which would result in support for the people in this country, or support the Constitution? Both are impediments to achieving the greater power they crave
And…..( maybe this has not escaped your notice either ); I would also add my believe that another collective, Congressional Character flaw is that, despite all the ritual , mutual, and partisan "Tar and Feathering" they routinely heap upon one another in grandiloquent public pomp, oratory, and smear tactics is nothing more than window-dressing with a carnival like falsity meant to disguise the facts that both parties benefit enormously from laws enacted by their "opponents across the aisle". Amnesty and Homeland Security come immediately to mind, as well as this ridiculous strutting and puffery of feathers regarding the budget/debt-ceiling issue
So we are subjected to to the insult and the cover-up hype as well.
We don't just need new people in Wash. D.C.; we need a new system of governance.
Your situation, like my own mother's, is particularly fragile and unfair…. Obama, his administration and czars, Congress and all those who have aided and abetted this terrible fraud against the very Americans who made this country prosperous; ought to be horse-whipped in a public arena for diligently trying to turn us all into slaves.
I will add prayers for you, along with those for my mother and others in similar circumstance, that you will come through these trying times with your finances, your health and your soul not just " in tact", but in a hearty, healthy condition.
There was a saying floating around some time ago that jokingly offered "You can't fire me ! Slaves have to be sold."
Well Congress has "fired" us all, we are no longer useful idiots necessary to gain their ends…..and, in addition, we are being SOLD to any Foreign country who offers the right price.
Peace and happiness to you, my friend.
