Israel and Iran: Obama wants a diplomatic solution before November and Israel be dammed

By Jim Emerson, staff writer

Iran and Israel have been in the news quite a bit lately, most of the talk lately has been speculation about an Israeli strike of Iranian nuclear facilities and when that might happen. Israel is not taking Iran’s nuclear threat lightly because she understands she will most likely be the first target. The prevailing view of the bureaucrats is that Iran doesn’t have a nuclear weapon yet but may be very close. Recent analyses of satellite photos show the Iranians are hiding evidence of nuclear trigger testing.

Sanctions

In an attempt to get the Islamic Republic to halt its undisclosed nuclear weapons program, the United States and the European Union have imposed sanctions and froze the Iranian central bank’s assets.  This has hurt the general population but has done very little to discourage the regime from its nuclear ambitions. Western governments are hoping the sanctions will create civil unrest similar to the Arab Spring  which will lead to inspections of the regime’s nuclear facilities.

Israel

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s main responsibility is protecting the sovereignty and security of Israel. The Jewish state must consider all options to halt any hostile nation from wiping it out. Israel isn’t afraid to shut down any weapon program that would present a clear and dangerous threat; they destroyed the Iraqi’s Osirak nuclear reactor in 1981 thus snuffing out Saddam’s nuclear program before it started. Knowing the history of Israel, the Iranians know they cannot ignore the possibly of an airstrike. Despite the rhetoric of the Islamic nation the Israelis know what the Iranian Air Force is capable of. The Obama administrations offered bunker busters and air refueling tankers if Israel would hold off strike plans until after the elections. Nevertheless, unless Netanyahu has been provided with some intelligence suggesting the Iranians are bluffing it is highly doubtful he would shelve a plan to insure the survival of the Jewish State.

 United States

In an election year the Obama Administration is placing politics before security. Obama is insisting on a diplomatic solution to enhance his foreign policy resume. Apologizing, proxy wars and assignation isn’t much of a resume for a Nobel Prize winner. He wants a diplomatic solution before November and Israel be dammed.

Got Nukes?

by Jim Emerson,  staff writer

In another effort to divert attention from the President’s abysmal record heading into this election year the White House threw out another hand grenade to distract any scrutiny. The Obama Administration announced that it’s considering drastic reductions to America’s nuclear arsenal. According to several news outlets, the Administration is planning to cut the total number of nuclear warheads by 80%.

The current START pact calls for the United States to reduce their inventory to 1,550 deployable warheads by 2018. Now the administration plans to ask the Russians to reduce the inventory to 300 to 400 warheads leaving the two largest nuclear powers to have the same amount of warheads as China.  In faculty lounge out of touch with reality logic, this White House believes that the Russians will agree to reduce their inventory and may convince Iran and North Korea to abandon their nuclear programs. Shortly after his “immaculation” to the presidency Obama asked the world to share “his vision for a world free of nuclear weapons.” (5)

Republican response

Congressional Republicans have vowed to block the Administration from recklessly cutting the only weapon system that discourages any crackpot third world dictator from trying to destroy western civilization. Rep. Michael Turner R-Ohio called such proposal “”reckless lunacy.” (2)

Other Congressmen pointed out that this is a loony leftist notion that if the United States disarmed that rest of the world will follow suit. The Iranians and Koreans will see this as weakness and will accelerate their programs. Far too often, leftist politicians have about as much common sense as a bug playing chicken against a speeding tractor-trailer windshield.

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Army Gen. Martin Dempsey assured the congressmen that maintaining the current levels of nuclear war heads is an option but additional cut are being studied. If Obama manages to get re-elected those studies will be naught and the inventory will be cut. Unless congress decides to play hardball with this President he will do as he pleases and if that means the United States has no nukes so be it.

Bottom Line

In a reality check, Reagan-era Defense official Frank Gafney Jr. points out that “There is only one country on earth that Team Obama can absolutely, positively denuclearize: Ours.” (4) The 2012 elections are very important.

Iran preparing for war

by Jim Emerson,  staff writer

Last May, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei ordered the Revolutionary Guards to rapidly increase the development and deployment of its nuclear weapons program. Recently the Washington Times has reported that the Supreme Leader ordered the Guards to be prepared for war against Israel and the United States. The Iranian regimes’ National Security Council has determined that there is a strong possibility that Israel and the United States will attack the Islamic Republic in 2012. Yet the Council isn’t worried, believing that the Republic will be victorious and viewed as the champion of Islam. (1)

Nuclear Agenda

The Islamic Republic planned to acquire a cache of nuclear weapons and use them in order to gain respect and spread Islam around the world.  Indeed, Iran would have no compunction about using the bomb to “Bring the West to its knees.” (1)  Washington Times’ reporter Reza Kahlili points out; “They also have concluded that because of the troubles in the world’s economy and financial troubles in America, even a limited confrontation with America would benefit the Islamic regime.”  In simple translation, they see America as weak.

Strait of Hormuz and Oil

In blocking the Strait of Hormuz, Iran could stop delivery of some 40% of the world’s oil. The recent naval exercise on the part of the Regime was a trial run to determine if it could do just that.  Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been visiting Latin American dictators. The possibility of coordinating with Venezuela to enact an oil embargo in a time of war with the West wouldn’t be so implausible to consider. (2)

Russia, China, and others

The Iranian Regime believes that Russia and China will rush to its aid in order to prevent the West ending its rule. Moreover the Regime hopes to influence the United Nations collection of anti-Semites to plead its case in portraying the United States and Israel as aggressive crusaders. As Russia and China will be called upon to stop American “aggression,” Islamic and Latin American countries may cut off the flow of oil to the United States and Israel. Believing it has little to lose, Iran’s radical Regime has become rather bold, perhaps even suicidal. Most Middle Eastern nations aren’t too thrilled about Iran becoming a regional power, but will side with their Muslim brothers in jihad.

What is the US doing?

Saving the lives of Iranian nationals at sea. If and when the Iranian people discover that America is not the threat it is portrayed to be, they might not be so amused with their government. But as long as the United States is led by an “appeaser-in-chief,” this nation will be challenged by every third world country and every dictator with a Napoleon complex.

When Israel attacks Iran’s nukes, Obama will be the last to know

By Doug Book, staff writer

Would Israel launch a surprise attack against Iranian nuclear facilities without first having informed the White House of its intentions?  That’s a question to which Barack Obama would dearly love an answer, but don’t expect Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to provide one any time soon.

Upon receipt of an October report by UN weapons inspectors that Iran was in the process of building a nuclear weapon,  Barack Obama dispatched Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta to Israel to demand  “…an unshakable guarantee that Israel would not carry out a unilateral military strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities without first seeking Washington’s clearance.”

But neither Israeli PM Netanyahu nor Defense Minister Ehud Barak would provide Obama with such a guarantee,  instead telling Panetta only that no attack was planned.

The nation of Israel has survived the geographic nightmare of being surrounded by hostile Muslim neighbors through good intelligence,  dogged preparedness and a no nonsense,  no illusions attitude about the intentions of her enemies.  Though occasional liberal leaders have been pleased to undermine her best interests by catering to the whims of the U.N.,  Israel has endured.

But she now must contend with an enemy in the White House as untrustworthy, dishonest and calculating as any she has faced in the Middle East during her 63 year existence. And Netanyahu knows it very well.

During his visit,  Panetta made statements worthy of a diplomat Judas,  publicly undercutting the United States’ longstanding relationship with Israel and providing a sense of power and security to Iran and its terror-promoting leaders.

“…It is not a good situation for Israel, to become increasingly isolated and that’s what’s happening,”   said Panetta.  “…Is it enough to maintain a military edge if you’re isolating yourself diplomatically?”

This statement makes Israel appear a virtual rogue nation,  providing her enemies an excuse to take a hard line,  convinced the  “isolated”  nation is now on her own,  out of favor with her longtime ally and embracing policies which make her a pariah in the eyes of the U.S.

Statements this damaging to the security and reputation of a supposed ally are not made by accident.  It is Barack Obama who is responsible for any isolation of the Jewish state and he does it with great relish,  hoping to bend Netanyahu to his will by making Israel even more dependent upon the moods and munificence of his anti-Israel regime.

After all,  the PM has dared refuse Obama’s commands that Israel end the building of settlements and doom itself by returning to pre 1967 war borders. This has annoyed the self-anointed American Caesar,  earning Netanyahu the same measure of swift retribution reserved for all who dare defy the will of the One.

Though Obama’s innate anti-Semitism makes his efforts to undermine the security of the Jewish state a true labor of love,  like so many with an inflated value of their own worth,  Obama has severely underestimated his opponent.  Netanyahu will do what is best for Israel,  not Obama’s legacy or campaign for re-election and neither threat nor calculated betrayal will change it.

If Netanyahu believes an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities is the only means of insuring Israel’s safety, then bombs will fall and nothing Barak Obama says or does will make one bit of difference.
