‘Patria o muerte, venceremos’ and other great thoughts from Willard Romney

In sports the most frustrating mistakes are unforced errors. Newt Gingrich is not the only candidate who makes unforced errors, although you would never know it from the media and the Republican establishment. Here’s a look at a few of Willard Romney’s unforced errors.

While trying to win favor with anti-Castro South Florida Cuban Americans Romney thought he would get the job done by saying, “’Patria o muerte, venceremos.” It means “Fatherland or death, we shall overcome.” Here’s what Fidel Castro had to say about the phrase, “Hugo Chavez has tried to steal an inspiring phrase — ‘Patria o muerte, venceremos.’ It does not belong to him. It belongs to a free Cuba.”

Gaffe? Maybe but Romney speaks Spanish. Was he just babbling or was this another flash of the progressive Romney hiding under his carefully crafted facade?
