Clear eyed observers recognize Barack Obama will not have an easy road to reelection. A steady stream of poor, and outright suspicious, decisions has become the hallmark of his administration. He stands exposed as a man overmatched by the demands of his office. Obama’s well documented failings will provide ample material for whomever the GOP nominates. Nevertheless, the worst enemy of Obama’s reelection chances may be inexorably building without much notice.
The worst calamity a candidate can face is being laughed at, but the second worst is being ignored. Evidence that the voting public may be ignoring Obama is building and this portents great danger for his reelection.
Continually dropping viewership
There was a time not long ago when people stopped whatever they were doing to hear an American president’s speech. This was the case at the beginning of Obama’s administration. In December 2009 almost 41 million people stopped whatever they had going to watch Obama’s speech about Afghanistan. Last June, when he spoke to us about the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico those who viewed his speech numbered 32.1 million. His August 2010 talk on Iraq had 29.2 million viewers which was bad enough, but substantially better than the alarmingly low 25.5 million who tuned in for his speech on Libya.
Rasmussen’s daily presidential tracking poll
Since the beginning of Obama’s term of office, the Rasmussen poll has reported on the difference between the percentages of likely voters who strongly approve of Obama and those likely voters who strongly disapprove of him. On his first day in office, Obama enjoyed a huge PLUS SIDE advantage of about 30 points. He stayed in plus territory until the middle of August 2009 when the spread fell into the negative where it has stayed ever since. While this negative spread has held at about 12 points on average, finding the real significance of these numbers requires a closer look.
Not only have Obama’s strongly approve numbers slid ever downward, his strongly disapprove numbers are sliding in virtual lockstep as well. Both are now at levels showing nearly 60% of likely voters have made up their minds about Obama and 61% of them don’t care what he says.
Burning the furniture to stay warm
Obama and his advisers must recognize the dark shadow of apathy engulfing his presidency. Why else would they release a putatively genuine birth certificate so early in this cycle? Why would they execute bin Laden now when they were obviously sitting on certain knowledge of his whereabouts for months? Why else would Obama try to convince us he is ready to drill all over the country?
Why would Obama be “burning the furniture to stay warm”?
Could it be because he is feeling ignored?

There use to be a cartoon character that always said "WHICH WAY DID THEY GO–WHICH WAY DID THEY GO", AND I WOULD LOVE TO ADD THIS TO THIS DISCUSSION–"WHICH WAY DID HE FLIP-FLOP, WHICH WAY DID HE FLIP-FLOP". I smell the air and I know that he does to, and when he-[O-"DUMMY"]-that is smells it he asks all of his cronies, and his socialist advisers what should I do today, and then they give him there predictions, and than he goes right out, and makes an ass out of himself.
I read this morning that he's in Ireland right now visiting a little village where his great, great, great, great grandfather was born. Think this has anything to do about his reelection?? LOL This is desperation.
BHO is rumured to be taking dance lessons. He’s learned the 2 step, the jive, and now the waltz. Who knows, several months from now he might be on ‘dancing with the Stars’ Then of course he’ll master ‘line danceing’ and later on around November 2012 the Shuffle,the ‘Polka’ and the ‘Chicken’. Should be fun to watch!
Vacations or golfing is what he does most of the time, isn't it? If he isn't going somewhere, his wife is. And going on all of these trips cannot be cheap. Wonder how much they have spent on doing this? Ha. Not to mention what I heard Palosi spent on her trips back and forth to California during the 2 years she was speaker of the house, having the service by the Air Force at her disposal. And they say Ryan is pushing grandma off of the cliff? I think it has been the government who has been stealing the funds from SS that has been paid in over all of these years to spend as they desired, that has been responsible for pushing grandma off of the cliff mostly. Not just on one side of the stinking aisle either, but both. And they promised the moneys paid into this fund, would have a lock box on it, but never did. Probably grandma is paying for all of these vacations taken, if the truth was known. And they think we don't know???? think again you creeps.
They just put the Social Security monies into the General Fund, and never set aside a 'Trust Fund' as they should have, so they just kept on spending all of it without ANY thought as to what they were doing. And what they did has only been recently found out.
This is what I keep posting.I don't understand why Fox news has such a problem with the candidates on the Republican side.Any one of these candidates have to be better than Obama.Unless the Dems. have separated and guarded the population that votes for them,blacks,new immigrants on welfare and the wackos [which they do],I just can't understand this activist worker;how he won in the first place! That I'm afraid is our country today.Petraeus/West could turn the tide completely,but you never here of a winning ticket and praise for Repubs.,only angst.[at least on Fox]and I like and watch Fox!
To johnnyangel10 : Fox News has a problem period ! It will deplore any candidates speaking of tough anti-amnesty programs and more stringent Immigration enforcement because owner of Fox, Rupert Murdoch is an open-borders freak. Fox will also slam any candidate that even sounds as if he/she actually wants to shake up the "status Quo" and truly reduce the size of government.
Covering the ills of errors of of both the Dems. and the Reps. in Congress is Fox's bread and butter; if by some miracle of God our Congress men and women got smart and suddenly became the Constitutional conservatives we need them to be, the American people wouldn't need the RINOS at Fox News. We wouldn't be able to stomach their centrist tripe any more than we listen to Obama.
If you watch Fox News, I'm afraid that you will have to do with them, the same thing you do with the "Drive-by Media" . Take it with a grain of salt and realize that Fox has its' own agenda as well; and it probably has nothing to do with what is good for the citizenry.
Obama is indistinguishable from the stuff that even the tidiest dog-owners sometimes overlook. Please watch where you step !
