In the summer of 1776 our Founding Fathers gathered in Philadelphia to decide not whether they would tell King George III they had had enough, but how to word their message. They wanted nothing about our Declaration of Independence to be ambiguous.
They explained that it had become necessary to dissolve the political bands that connected them to England because they were entitled by God to have certain inalienable rights the British Crown refused to recognize. Our Founding Fathers confidently proclaimed the truths they relied upon were self-evident. To ground their declaration in logic they presented a list of evils and abuses George III had committed. It reads like a criminal indictment. Here are some of the charges they listed against the English King.
He refused to follow laws.
He forbade state governors from passing laws that would benefit their people. Moreover he completely ignored laws he didn’t like.
He refused requests for laws that would help people unless the districts they lived in agreed to give up genuine representation in their legislature.
He obstructed the laws for naturalization of foreigners.
He obstructed the administration of justice, by refusing his assent to laws for establishing judiciary powers.
He made judges dependent on his will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.
He erected a multitude of new offices, and sent out swarms of officers to harass our people, and “eat out their substance.”
He combined with others to subject Americans to a jurisdiction foreign to us and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his assent to their acts of pretended legislation.
He imposed taxes on us without our consent.
The similarity between our predicament in 1776 and what Barack Obama has inflicted upon us today is eerie. With no alternative our Founding Fathers picked up guns and took to the streets to fight for their freedoms. We can’t do that today, but we can take to the streets and work to win our freedoms in November. When you do we must vote conservative.

This day in history July 4
1776: The Declaration of Independence is announced in Philadelphia. Happy birthday America!
In this world you may have knowledge or you may have repose, but you may not have both.
What have you done today to deserve to live in America?

There is plenty that is right with this country, Coach, so is it truly necessary to be negative on this day of all days or are you just that angry and sour?
Joe
If you think there is “plenty that is right” with the way we have been treated by Barack I you might have wondered into the wrong site. I don’t think much of what Obama have do has made our country better and the vast majority of Americans agree.
My family fought in the American Revolution, but they didn’t risk their lives and worldly possessions to build the socialist gulag Obama has put us in. Stay healthy Joe; he’s got a Death Panel target on your back.
Thanks for reading CiR and had a stirring and patriotic Independence Day.
Coach
I simply choose, where I can, to embrace optimism, Coach, as did Reagan.
To Joe Conservative and grace_nearing The reason why people like you can “take a day off” from the fight and babble about Reagan’s optimism and how wonderful America is is because people like me don’t take days off in this fight. Joe you must be new here because your implication that I am not optimistic is way off. There are few people how anyone can point to that are more optimistic than I am. Grace a recitation of what is great about America is nice, but I do that every day. Pointing out the work we need to do to fix the damage Obama has done is part of our CiR mission.

Joe Conservative….Where are you? La-La Land ? Have you been paying attention ??
Or are you SO blindly patriotic and nationalistic that you cannot see the enormous irony caused by the gap between what we once, proudly WERE, and what we have, disgracefully BECOME ???
Independence Day 2012 is NOT, as you put it, "this day of all days"…… THOSE days are LONG over by many generations.
You sound like someone who still believes in the Tooth Fairy past the age of ten.
Independence Day ? By my Aunt Sadie's ample ass…. No Way.
Yes, it IS truly necessary to be negative today…. July 4 2012…so that dreamers like you understand the depths to which this country has sunk…so that people like you begin to KNOW that whatever it IS that holds YOUR magical little worlds together… tied up with the flourishes of big red bows, is about to end "mui pronto".
Angry and sour ?? You betcha, you simpleton….you twit !!
In an age long ago, when the HONOR of the three branches of Federalism weren't in such disgusting disrepute; when respect for the Constitution was a "given"….and not treated as an impediment…..a millstone around the necks of the whims, politics, and ideologies of charlatans and carpet-baggers dressed in suits and robes ; and where at least the guise of civility extended to NOT oppressively beating down the citizenry/electorate, ruining the futures of their progeny, destroying their livelihoods, and so blatantly stealing ALL their assets and income to endow a centralized government we NEVER wanted in the first place….
I'm supposed to CELEBRATE such a nose-dive into despotism ? NEVER !
Guess you know what you can do with your fireworks dontcha ?
And, if you had the sense God gave a grasshopper you too would be irate
Joanne
I am sad you are so unhappy, but I wonder where in this world you might find a better country.
I agree with Joe Conservative. There is SO MUCH THAT IS GREAT about this country. Honor and enjoy The Fourth. The political fights will go on — they always do. And trust me, that is a very good sign.

Creator or Liar? http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0005/0005_01….
Today, we're invited to a picnic to celebrate America's birthday.
95% of the attendees are X military. Some of us went on, to serve in various Fedeal agencies to further protect all us..
When I'm with these wonderful people I feel great pride by their expression and love for this great country.
All of us have felt the slow crawl these last 3.5 years to overtly take away State's Rights and individual rights., called" free choice."
Yes Joe;, "there's plenty right with this great country," but what this article is screaming out;. King George the III, is back .
To all military THANK YOU! You've given us another day to enjoy our freedom, fly our flag, and give thanks " under God."
These three freedoms are currently in court, in one form or the other, defended by ACLU legal teams . What have you done for your counrty to ensure that these American values are not trashed and kicked to the curve.
You can " serve and protect" in a thousands dif. ways from there, and we need you to do tha my fellow American.
Happy Birthday AMERICA!
