By now we know that, contrary to the giddy wishful thinking of Democrats the media and their leftwing “Catholic” stooges, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) under the leadership of its president Cardinal Timothy Dolan has not “caved to Obama” or anyone else.
There was never any doubt this would be the case because as the personal representative of Pope Benedict XVI Cardinal Dolan is carrying this fight not only for religious freedoms of Catholics but the liberties of all Americans as well. In this proxy war between Benedict and Barack Obama the very existence of the Catholic Church in America is at stake and Pope Benedict has no intention of losing.
The timeline of events over the past eight years makes this very clear.
In 2004 Benedict who was then Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger was the Prefect of The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) issued a memorandum advising American bishops they must withhold Holy Communion from Catholic politicians who persistently commit the public sin of supporting abortion. Only a few Bishops complied including Bishop Raymond Burke of St. Louis who publicly warned John Kerry not to attempt to receive Communion in his diocese.
In 2005 Cardinal Ratzinger became the Pope and he appointed Cardinal William Levada as the first American to ever be named Prefect of the CDF. This was as clear a signal as comes from Rome that the new Pope wanted a more conservative USCCB.
In 2007conservative Cardinal Francis George was elected president of the USCCB signifying that Benedict’s message was being heeded.
In 2008 Benedict appointed Cardinal Burke as the first American Prefect of The Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura making him the penultimate interpreter of the Canon Laws under which the Church operates. This further strengthened Benedict’s message to America’s Bishops to closely adhere to Canon Law.
In 2010 the strongly conservative Cardinal Dolan and Bishop Joseph Kurtz of Louisville are elected president and vice president respectively of the USCCB, providing more evidence that Benedict’s message had been heard.
November 2011: Cardinal Dolan meets with Barack Obama to discuss Obamacare’s assault on the Catholic Church and American liberties. Apparently there was no agreement.
January 2012 Benedict announces he will elevate Dolan to be a Cardinal.
February 5, 2012 Cardinal Dolan addresses a letter to Catholics asking for support in his fight against the mandates of Obamacare that will force Catholic institutions to cooperate with abortions.
February 10, 2012 Obama offers a phony doubletalk “compromise” on the mandate and Cardinal Dolan rejects it. There was never any doubt he would. Cardinal Dolan is Pope Benedict’s warrior; he is an all American warrior fighting for the liberties and freedoms of all Americans, not just those of Catholic Americans.
Cardinal Dolan and those of all faiths who are rallying behind him are fighting for us against a malevolent entity bent on destroying our religious and personal liberties. This is why he cannot/will not fail; this is why we must support him in every way possible.

Since timing is everything in politics, I'm wondering if the Obama WH timed the release of his attack on precepts of the Catholic faith during the very week that the Obama eligibility case hit the docket in GA/after all, they would have been able to read the docket's schedule of cases/they've gotten pretty far in distracting the American public from what's going on/ The Catholic Church has survived everything thrown at them through the ages/they'll survive this attack/
The Adminsistration has provided "plausible deniability" to the Church and has spread the cost to the global pool of insurance purchasers. "Pope Benedict's warrior" will, of course, continue to deplore, and maybe even quasi-fulminate for the benefit of the hard liners, about the subject, but not much more. The Al Smith Dinner is coming after all.
And your point is….
My point is the Church has a way out and will take it. Aside from some possible verbal tut-tutting by Church officials consistent with Church doctrine the issue is resolved. Don't doubt it.
I sincerely hope you are wrong because if you are not, it will ( in the radical left's mind) be one more freedom gone, "How many more to go?" Believe me they are very systematic in their takeover. Religious freedom is probably the biggest hurdle and the one that the communists/socialists/Leninists and any other totalitarians must impose in order to implement their form of government. So this in not just a religious issue. It is a human rights issue protected by our Constitution. If we don't win this, we can just look to the Next Freedom they will work to take away.
I am not wrong and this will be proved by events. Watch and see. While you do do not forget Dolan is a politician, too, and by all accounts a good one. Nobody rises to Cardinal and/or Archbishop of New York without being a skilled politician.
FL Voter….take your "plausible deniability", your cost redistribution bilge, and all your OTHER Marxist "government-speak" and jam it !! I'm sick and tired of being subjected to jackasses like you creating excuses for the unconstitutional acts of the Pissant in the Oval Office.
When Obama lies, you swear to it…you moronic sheep.
I've HAD IT ! Get the hell out of here.
Obama and his defenders did not consider Roman Catholics to be more than pushovers, as he consider the governors of the Border States to roll over, and citizens to shut up, agree with his looting of America.
Citizens are equals to any president, and presidents come from the ranks of
citizens. Obama may be the exception, as I believe he is not legit on any count.
That aside, Roman Catholic doctrine, coming out of Western and Latin Christianity, began in the early days of the Church and is refined and has continued for nearly 2000 years.
If Obama thinks the RCC and the Orthodox Churches and Evangelical Christians will drop on their knees and kiss the ring of Caesar, he is learning the hard way.
Faith is more important than worship at the Throne of King Obama. Long live, faith. Down with tyranny.
When a clergy abuse case popped up in Wisconsin a year or so ago, I saw the hand of Prof; Joel Rogers of U/WI, Andy Stern and George Soros in it. The 20 year old case accused the Vatican of cover up, and of course, the alleged perp was none other than Cardinal Ratzinger, Pope Benedict XVI. His Holiness had the temerity to issue his wonderful encyclical, "Caritas in vertate" which both recognized globalization and offered cogent ways to deal with it. His solution, combined the application of the principles of subsidiarity and solidarity – which is the root of why the American Dream was so successful – smacked international unions such as the corrupt SEIU in the face. Remember too, Cardinal Dolan and Congressman Paul Ryan are from Milwaukee and have exchanged letters on that very subject. Obama had to make his stand. Remember the Alinsky tactics – push hard, back off and present a different, but usually worse alternative. "The price of liberty is eternal vigilance." This could be the Church's greatest period of evangelization… and suffering.
