As early as today the Senate could vote to strip us our 6th Amendment rights!
In a move that would make Joseph Stalin proud, Arizona Senator John McCain has joined Michigan’s Carl Levin in crafting a section of a bill designed to take away our rights to face an accuser and have a fair trial before being placed in prison. A section of S. 1867 The National Defense Authorization Act bill, written by McCain and Levin would in effect give the President arrest powers. It would authorize the Chief Executive to order our military personnel to forcibly- if necessary- take any one, regardless of guilt or innocence, into custody without charges or a trial.
These “McCain – Levin” detainees could be held indefinitely with no due process or speedy trial.
As if this sneaky piece of garbage was not bad enough the cowardly McCain and Levin pushed this bill through a Senate Committee in total secrecy with no public hearings or “leaks” to the press. Not a single Republican Senator brought this gross violation of our 6th Amendment rights to light. All of these feckless quislings turned their back on the guarantees Americans have fought and died for over the past 236 years.
The heart of the 6th Amendment reads as follows:
“In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defense.”
What part of this wonderful document don’t these jerks understand?
The saddest thing is that we have to rely on a Democrat, Mark Udall of Colorado to kill this monster. He has announced he will offer an amendment to S.1867 that would delete it.

I'd like to say this is unbelievable, but tragically it really isn't. John McCain has made a career of selling out the American public in order to get along and advance his "standing" in DC. And we've all known for quite some time that the majority of his feckless Republican colleagues have no more regard for the Constitutional rights of the average citizen than most Democrats.
Anyone still uncertain about the necessity that Americans be armed, here's another dose of reality for you. It isn't the midnight burglar from whom we must defend ourselves. It is and has always been our own government.

After having served his country in a war which cost him personally, McCain now seems equally dedicated to the destruction of America that he fought for.
What kind of a two-faced SOB would turn on his own countrymen to further tighten THEIR chains ?
What sort of mental derangement would cause two Senators (McCain and Levin), to cede even more power to a Chief of State already committed to the ruination of both America and Americans, as well as to the complete and utter paralysis of both Houses of Congress ?
What incredibly selfish former military man would EVER wish to see the military in which he once served, used as a lethal tool against his fellow citizens ?
What brand of Senator repeatedly lies to his electorate regarding his actual Party affiliation and his goals/aims of "Public Service"?
Public servant be damned, McCain behaves like a Public Serpent.
Just because McCain has never fully recovered from his own savage imprisonment doesn't mean that we are obliged to allow him to do the same to us. We refuse to live in fear of our own Fathers, Brothers, Mothers, Sons and Sisters being militarily set against us because some Jackass in the Oval Office has a bug up his arse regarding our Constitutional and Bill of Rights protections from the tyranny of Government .
What is McCain trying to do ? Begin another Civil War on American soil ?
Never thought I would be looking to a Democrat (Udall), to do the "right thing" ?
Where are the Conservative voices on this issue ? Or is there no such critter as a Conservative within the Senatorial chambers?
That portion of SB 1867 must be flayed and beaten until it is lifeless, then killed .
McCain, don't you EVER again try to con us into believing that the you are a God-Fearing Man .

I would like to see Congressional and Supreme Court offices swamped with "Kagan Recuse Yourself" petitions.
As Dick Morris pointed out, in his web site video: as a junior Court Member, Kagan can, euphemistically speaking, get her ears pinned back by pressure received from the elder "Supremes".
